Electrocardiogram

Electrocardiogram

An EKG records the electrical signals from the heart. It is a common and painless test used to detect heart problems.
An EKG is a painless and non-invasive way to diagnose many common heart problems in people of all ages. Your doctor may use an EKG to determine or detect:
An abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmias).
If clogged or narrowed arteries in the heart (coronary artery disease) are causing chest pain or a heart attack.
If you have had a previous heart attack.
How certain treatments for heart disease, such as a pacemaker, are working.
